“Always a good time for bananas

18th June 2020

Four layers of euphoria in one pie! Whenever we feel a bit under the weather to whip up something for dessert, we always turn to this easy five ingredient recipe that will not only turn your heads around but will leave your plate empty and asking for another serve. Yes, you heard it right, that’s only FIVE ingredients and no need to bake. We haven’t bought any commercial made dessert for years as they are filled with ingredients we don’t even know how to pronounce. When a dessert is only made up of basic ingredients, they put more to lengthen the shelf life. Can’t blame them, business is business. If you’re health conscious but still wanted to enjoy your dessert, don’t deprive yourself. Instead, take time to make something from scratch. Homemade is always the best.

  • 1 pack scotch finger biscuits
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 can salted caramel
  • 2 pcs large bananas
  • 400mls heavy cream
  • Cocoa or cinnamon powder (optional)

  1. Crush the biscuits. Crush 1 pack of scotch finger biscuits using a blender or food processor. If you don’t have one, you can place the biscuits in a ziplock and crush it using a rolling pin or bottle.
  2. Add the melted butter. Melt 1/4 cup butter in the microwave for 1 minute or in a pan. Be mindful as butter easily burns. Set it aside to cool down.
  3. Assemble crust in pan. Pour the melted butter over the crushed biscuits. Ensure to mix them thoroughly, don’t leave any part of the biscuits dry or your crust will crumble. Spread it evenly on the pan including the sides. Store in the fridge for at least 15 minutes to settle.
  4. Pour salted caramel over the crust. Once the crust is formed, take it out of the fridge and pour 1 can of salted caramel. Spread evenly.
  5. Arrange sliced bananas on top. Slice 2 large bananas into even regular sizes. You can use 3 bananas if your using a medium size or smaller one. Or if you would like more bananas in your pie.
  6. Whip the cream. Whip 400 mls of heavy or thickened cream until soft peak. You know it’s perfect when you turn the bowl upside down and the cream doesn’t fall down. Top the cream over the bananas. Spread evenly. You can also use a piping bag to make it more presentable.
  7. Sprinkle cocoa or cinnamon powder to finish. This is optional. Some people don’t like cinnamon but bananas and cinnamon are a pair made for each other. Sprinkle the powder on top to finish. Keep in the fridge before serving or serve it immediately!
